If our databases focus on a topic related to your search, you'll see them listed under Recommendation.
Tools to narrow your search are on the left side of the page. First, you can limit results to those with full text online and/or those considered scholarly. You can also exclude newspaper articles.
Under Content Type, you can refine your search by type of material. If your assignment requires books only, you can check the box next to book/eBook to show only that type of material. Click on "more" to see more content types and further refine your results.
Below the Content Type filter is another important tool: the Subject Terms filter.
This is a detailed filter that will allow you to focus your search on specific subject areas that best describe your research topic.
When narrowing your results by subject, we recommend clicking on "more" so that you can see the full list of subject terms.
On this full list, you can choose terms to be excluded from your results, in addition to those you wish to include.
You may also wish to adjust the Publication Date, especially if you're searching for recent publications or have other time frame limitations.
To adjust the publication date, you can use the sliding arrows on the chart, or enter dates in the fields below the chart and click "Update." If you want to undo this, click on "Clear."
You can also refine results if you're only interested in books at a certain Library Location, like the Reserves at the Circulation Desk.
Finally, you can limit your results by Language.
Did you know that you can collect your best results and email links and citation info to yourself and others? Here's a quick, quiet video on how this is done.
