This guide is your starting point for finding the help and documentation you need to build your courses. This guide will cover the following topics.
Dealing with student registration errors
Entering midterm and final grades
Resources for course design and online instruction best practices
There can occasionally be discrepancies between Blackboard and Moodle and Felix (the official class registration record). Faculty should NEVER add a student to a Blackboard or Moodle course. Instead, send the student to Enrollment Services to ensure their registration is correct. If there is an issue syncing their registration records to Blackboard or Moodle, the Tech Commons will assist.
Felix is the official record for student registration, so it is critical that students ensure they appear in the course in Felix as soon as the instructor or student realizes there is a problem.
If you still see students in your course after they've dropped, please send an email to onlinelearning@fairmontstate.edu with the course and student name.
In many cases, new faculty will be able to copy an existing course into their course. To do this, please ask your Dean, Chair, or the faculty member whose course you are copying to send an email to onlinelearning@fairmontstate.edu or help@fairmontstate.edu. Please include the following.
Course to copy from (CRN and term) or (Course name, number, section, and term)
Course to copy to (CRN and term) or (Course name, number, section, and term)
Send to onlinelearning@fairmontstate.edu or help@fairmontstate.edu
Must come from Dean, Chair, or faculty member whose course is being copied.
Blackboard and Moodle do not sync their grades back to Felix (the student information system). Instructors will receive an email from the Registrar's office reminding them when to enter grades.
Faculty should contact Online Learning support for assistance with Blackboard, Moodle, and other related technologies such as Respondus, Ensemble, Big Blue Buttons, Clickers, etc.
